GangHouse Governance Forum Rules and Guidelines

Basic Guidelines

This forum is for the discussions on the governance around Beergang ecosystem. Relevant topics include:

  • Governance proposals
  • Proposal discussions
  • Site feedback

This is not the place for:

  • Price discussion
  • Generic Beergang NFT and related product discussion
  • Support requests
  • Off-topic conversations

If you need technical help, or want a place for more general discussion, visit the official Discord.

If your signal-to-noise ratio gets too low, you will be banned. Moderators will remove posts that are offensive, asking for Beergang NFT or related assets, or are otherwise irrelevant to this forum.

All BeerGang DAO communication/BGIPs must be written in clear, concise English as the canonical language. After the canonical English version of proposal is approved, community members are encouraged to provide translations in other languages to promote global participation. These translations should be clearly marked as unofficial and include a link to the original English version. In case of any discrepancies between the English version and translations, the English version will be considered authoritative.

DAO Proposals and Voting Procedures

The following process governs the rules and procedures by which the BeerGang DAO may propose, vote on and implement BeerGang Improvement Proposals (BGIPs). No BGIP may be in violation of applicable laws, in particular sanctions-related regulations.

Phase 1: Idea Submission (Optional but Recommended)

  • Community members can submit ideas on the BeerGang forum for initial discussion.
  • Ideas should remain open for feedback at least for 7 days.

Phase 2: Formal BGIP Submission

  • After the feedback period, authors can submit a formal BGIP draft using the provided template.
  • Forum moderators review the draft for completeness and compliance with guidelines.
  • When the moderators consider that sufficient discussion has taken place, a vote will be held.
  • Votes should be held at least 7 days after the draft is submitted.
  • BGIPs should follow a standardized format, including sections for Abstract, Motivation, Rationale, Key Terms, Specifications, Steps to Implement, Timeline and Overall Cost.
    • Abstract - Two or three sentences that summarize the AIP.
    • Motivation - A statement on why the BeerGang community should implement the AIP.
    • Rationale - An explanation of how the BGIP aligns with the BeerGang community’s mission and guiding values.
    • Key Terms (optional) - Definitions of any terms within the proposal that are unique to the proposal, new to the BeerGang community, and/or industry-specific.
    • Specifications - A detailed breakdown of the platforms and technologies that will be used.
    • Steps to Implement - The steps to implement the BGIP, including associated costs, manpower, and other resources for each step where applicable. For the avoidance of doubt, any BGIPs involving transactions with third parties (such as grants) will need to ensure that applicable legal documentation and procedures are also included.
    • Timeline - Relevant timing details, including but not limited to start date, milestones, and completion dates.
    • Overall Cost - The total cost to implement the BGIP.
  • BGIP author can add additional fields to any template if necessary to fully communicate the intentions, specifics and implications of the BGIP.

Phase 3: Voting

  • All vote will last for 7 days.
  • A quorum of 25% of the voting power is required for a vote to be valid.
  • A simple majority (>50%) is required for most proposals to be passed, with a 67% supermajority for Core and Treasury proposals.
  • Failed proposals may be resubmitted after a 30-day cooling-off period. Resubmissions must address the reasons for the initial failure and clearly outline the changes made.
